Where i live at Roche on the Par to Newquay line there are several open crosssings and over the years there have been a lot of accidents one lady killed in a volvo car it was put down to the bright sunlight being low in sky and she didnt see the lights.
Years ago all of them were manned with gates.
Like you say if everyone did what they are surpposed to do there would no problem but people dont.
