144s for Mid Cheshire?
The mid cheshire line is now struggling to cope with the class 142 pacer units that bounce around the line as they are too small.
Not too long ago there was a replacement of 150s and 156s, but now most of them have been allocated somewhere else.
Perhaps now three car 144s can be brought in from other lines.
I hear that a line is being converted to a kind of tram train line so perhaps we could inherit ther stock.
I did a thread not too long ago on a third car 142, but that did not go anywhere and now I see that the 142s need withdrawing as a huge load that have been transferred, cannot cope with the passenger numbers.
I sat yesterday at hale station for two hours (I had no choice, I was locked out) and I saw that in that time around 8 passed though and were pretty choc a bloc.
Something needs to be done here, as from what I have seen, the station begins to fill up every 20 minutes and when the trains get there, there is often no seats left.
This is both into manchester and on the long rural line into chester.
It is unsafe to have people being forced into the doorwells.
I am going to have another chat with northern and mid cheshire rail.
I hope I am not encroaching too much on the previous thread, but now it is 144 and not 142.
Such a beautiful line needs better trains and more to the point bigger ones.
I mean I have seen even the 150s and 156s struggle and they are much bigger than the 142.
The 144s I think have found the ideal home on this line.
How many people can a three car 144 carry?
