I helped lay some of the track through the Aberglaslyn pass, recently just opened to Hafod y Llyn.

The official view is that these through trains will operate only on a "specials" basis.
As has been said, the only stock capable is FR due to the loading gauge. Also a round trip would take well over 4 hours and due to the lack of toilet facilities, would be difficult for the more elderly passengers shall we say.

So its unlikely on a regular timetable, but FR specials using double fairlies may happen next summer, but again, they might not be able to carry enough coal for the full trip. Garratts would, but wouldnt fit through FR tunnels
