I do agree. Why is it that people who die in tragic circumstances are always the most popular in their school, workplace, platoon etc., held in the highest regard by all who knew them, the life and soul of the party, on the verge of a brilliant career, etc., etc. Why do the less perfect never get taken in this way?
I went to a funeral recently (admittedly someone who died after an illness and in his 80's) but after the usual sort of tributes, the vicar said "of course, he was by no means perfect."
A very refreshing change and a much more realistic appraisal of most of us.
