Hi prm,
I have done a bit more research and found photos of 46121, 46127, 46128 and 46143 in lined black without smoke deflectors. Perhaps the most interesting was 46139 in lined LNER Green, again without deflectors. All had British Railways in full on the tender.
My Brother in law lives near Burton so we are in the area quite often.
