The West Highland line is one of my favourites but I don't think we should be getting too excited about this award.
Less than 3000 "Wanderlust" readers voted and as there were another 400 nominated railway journeys from around the World, the West Highland, although technically the winner, probably didn't receive that many votes.
What I find even more disappointing is that there doesn't appear to be any mention of these awards or the West Highland line on Wanderlust's website.
