Midland compound, good point about Scotland, although I am using a slightly wider definition of large than maybe you are . From something I read in a local government study a couple of years ago there is reckoned to be about 80-100 towns large enough to support a rail line that don't have one. Hawick was certainly on that list.
Hopefully though in due course they will extend to Hawick.
