As you may be aware Hornby's manufacturer in China has just been taken over by Kader Industries who own Bachmann so the next few months could be quite interesting! Hornby are way behind in releasing 2008 products: I am still waiting for the T9 which was due out by the end of June. It might arrive for Christmas.
This would help to account for Hornby's reply. As I see it you have several alternatives. As Robbo suggests trawel E Bay. I will enquire locally as it is amazing what some retailers have in their store rooms. Finally you could buy the coaches separately which may a bit more expensive but ......
