Through services definitely ran between Paddington and Fishguard during this period but I couldn't say how many there were. The route taken would have been Paddington - Cardiff - Swansea - Carmarthen - Fishguard although I would think that most through trains probably used the avoiding lines to eliminate the need to reverse in Swansea and Carmarthen stations.
I have seen photos of Brush Type 4 (class 47) and "Western" (Class 52) locos hauling trains on this route but it's also possible that there were others.
