Hi Steve,
Mallard originally carried the blue LNER livery at the time it set its World speed record in 1938. The railways were nationalised in 1948 and by the time the film was made in 1962/63 it had been repainted into the standard British Railways express passenger loco green. When it was withdrawn from service and preserved it regained its blue livery. You will also notice that in its blue form it also has skirts over its driving wheels. Great film by the way. Look forward to seeing the rest of it.
