Thanks for Your reply. There definitely wasn't any flats there in those days. It was a big recreation ground with a slide ,swings etc. On the other side of the road was Coles Cranes factory. I used to spend hours around that area. I recall going down the canal one day and My mother and Aunt sent out a search party. Where I used to stay at No 22 Albert Prom' there was an oldish lady who lived next door I shall never forget her name Miss Bebe, she had a little dog and She and I used go for walks down across the canal and across the fields over to the Midland line. can You tell Me exactly what was the routes for the central and Midland lines and what mainline stations they linked up with. I think We went to Derby once from Central and did the midland link up with Leicester.
