Hi all, im Aussie with British parents, i know the area very well due to spending a lot of time in the UK, when i was growing up and still having family there in and around skipton, keighley, and Colne.
I have been for many a long walk and run along the old track bed, and alway's wanted to know why the line was ripped up in the first place,and now i know.
Number one Dr Beeching had know intention of closing this line, in fact he had plans to plough money back in to it, and that started to happen until Barbara Castle MP the transport minister at the time, signed the documents for closure, due to the fact that the track and other materials were needed for some other railway.
Here in Sydney i have studied marketing for a number of years and have had the experience with working with SELRAP during my 17 months that i was their from 2004, being here in Syd i have been doing a lot of Market research for them, and when i can, will be there to give them more support.
