This is more or less the same tactic that Stagecoach employed during the mid to late 80's when bus privatisation became the norm.
Strange isn't it though. Nationalised networks can be broken up with the excuse that they are a non-competitive monopoly, only for a non-competitive private monopoly to take its place.
