Pendulino trains to get extra carriages?

There was talk in Wednesday’s papers of Pendulino trains getting extra carriages. I don’t know how crowded the Liverpool to London, Scotland to London or Birmingham to London trains are at peak times but from what I’ve seen of the Manchester to London trains they are probably the least crowded trains in Greater Manchester at peak times.

Some of those trains don’t even stop between Stockport and London which means they can’t become crowded at somewhere like Milton Keynes.

In fact to allow for extra trains between Manchester and London some local routes lost one of their peak hour trains to and from Manchester. This perhaps was justified as before Virgin got Pendulino trains many passengers were having to stand for the duration of their journey to London. However, the change has meant that there is now more overcrowding on other routes in to Manchester.
