Just had a quick look at that timetable. There only seems to be one every two hours from Manchester to Edinburgh or Glasgow which usually in the slot which the Manchester Airport to Windermere...

Northern give every conductor a watch

It was in Tuesday's Metro paper that Northern were giving conductors sychronised watches to ensure trains don't leave stations late.

Wouldn't sychronised station clocks be better?

Actually I mean it looks average. It's got good facilities considering the actual size of Rainhill, but it doesn't look historic like some other staions e.g. Manchester Victoria.

Apparently eventhough Rainhill is only a small place it is one of the oldest stations in England because it is on the Newton-le-Willows to Liverpool line which is where they first tested locomotives....
