Thieves strike at Glous-Warks.

As if the G.W.R. people haven't got enough on their plate, THIS happens http://www.gwsr.com/news/latest-news...id-on-gwr.aspx . Hangings too good for 'em, I'm totally disgusted.

terrible occurance and it seems to be getting more common. worst thing is the metal value is nothing compared to replacement cost.

A very sad situation created by a selfish and greedy bunch of common thieves.
It's high time the scrap metal industry was made more accountable in the identification of the source of their material.

A sad state of affairs when this sort of thing happens, they've no respect whatsoever for the trouble or anguish they cause to other people. The World would be better off without them.

They should be strung up by their privates.

My thoughts on these people are not printable.
I note the reward is £1,000 for the return of the P.I.Q. Which I suspect is put up by GWSR, denting their coffer even more.
The value of the property stolen is £60K.You would hope the insurance company would offer a substantial reward, far in excess of the scrap value. Might temp someone to cash in on it.

The people who commit these thefts from our national heritage are probably the same shower who prize the bronze plaques off our War Memorials.
Complete set of wasters.

My heart goes out to Glos and Warwicks. They have enough on their plate at present and P & 0 was getting so close!

Sadly it seems that all Heritage Railways are suffering from metal thefts. We have had "visitors" at the EVR.

Best wishes,

Anyone seen the thread raised by "Pre65" re the setting up of webcams and a contact number given out in the event any of us late nighters are watching them and can report an incident.
Sounds like a good investment to me.?

John H-T 22nd July 2011 22:36

The EVR webcams at Wirksworth can be found at:

http://www.e-v-r.com/webcams/default.htm

so if any of you late night watchers would like to keep an eye on them, we would be most grateful.

Best wishes,

John H-T.
