8F's were used on the branch in BR days. There is a photo of one at Wirksworth in The Wirksworth Branch Book.

The branch will be able to take any BR preserved loco. The 8F's do not have a particularly high axle loading which is why they were chosen by the WD.

The 8F Group are happy to base their loco on the line from spring next year.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

The following Classes were noted on the Wirksworth Branch 1963-65:

4F; 8F; 9F; WD 2-8-0; Black Fives; Ivatt Cl 2 2-6-0 Standard 4 4-6-0; Standard 2 2-6-0.

This is interesting as officially all locos with a power classification of greater that clas 5 were banned from the branch! (with the exception of the Crabs.)

Stanier 3 cylinder 2-6-4T, MR Compounds, LT&SR 4-4-2T, NLR 0-6-0T and BR Standard 4 4-6-0s were also banned from the branch .... Interesting.

All this information is in "The Wirksworth Branch" by Howard Sprenger, Oakwood Press, to-gether with numbers of individual locos noted on the branch.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

What about Bringing in More Diesil Rail Cars or Lococ form other Heritage Railways I know when the 4 Wheel Rail Car from the KWR Came to Llangollen it was packed to the rafters plus I think if something thta that was to Visit the EVR then I would imagine it would be worth while.

As there should be as much for Diesil Enththisasts as for Steam enthusiasts becuse I think if steam is so briliant then why where so many scrpaed and why they not pulling our daily trains now ?

Are you suggesting that a great many diesel locos and multiple units have not also been scrapped ?:D

Steam locos are an outdated technology, but that does not stop millions of people worldwide loving them.;)
