Llangollen Railway to extend.

Thanks for the link 62440. This is indeed good news, especially as I have bought a few shares to help it happen!

The people of Corwen are very keen for the railway to arrive. The railway will then run between two large centres of population.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

Very good news and congratulations to all involved. It's an investment that will help to attract many more visitors.
There's long been talk of reopening the stretch from Llangollen to Ruabon through Trevor and Acrefair but sadly more of a pipedream than a reality I think.

For anyon who's interested in the historical perspective there's an excellent publication by the "Scenes From The Past 9: Railways of North Wales" published by Foxline.
The Llangollen Line Ruabon to Barmouthby W.G. Rear & N. Jones
ISBN 1-870119-10-X
Please pardon my enthusiasm, but as a youngster I attended Ysgol Dinas Bran in Llangollen during the 60's and daily witnessed the crass act of vandalism as the tracks were lifted. (nuff said ;) :))

Relatively speaking. Population or Corwen = 2,398 - hardly a metropolis !
