Lots of Train Pictures available!!!
 

Hi all I'm sad to say that my uncle has passed away and my mother has inherrited hundreds of photographs of trains from him (he was an avid train spotter).

The majority of the pictures have the following information on them:

*The Date They were taken (dating back to the 50's)
*The number of the train and the engine
*Where they were taken / goods yard

one example I have is attached:

The picture shows the engine number clearly, it was taken at woodford Halse on 3rd June 1963 (I think this place has now been demolished!)


Basically I'm trying to find where the best place to sell these are (if they are worth anything of course) my mother is retired and would like to raise some money for a nice holiday.

Hi Jimidybone and welcome to this forum. Sorry about your loss. I have no idea what your photos could be worth, but you could try any train or model fairs, there are usually people selling photos at these things, or you could try Ebay. You could always post some on the forum before you do get them sold. I know there would be a lot of intrest from members here.

Hi, I'll scan in what I can and pop them on the forum but my mother found a load more, theres a stack around 10 inches high and i can only scan them in 1 at a time, we'll be taking pictures of them all anywa, and maybe ebay will be the simplest place to sell them.

As we take pictures of them and list them, I'll reply to the post on here to let you all know when the lots are ending ;p

Thanks Jimidybone. Having scanned ALL of my photos, right back to the 50's I know what you mean. It took me over a year to do them. I now have them backed up on 3 DVD discs and 2 hard drives as well as an online store.

Welcome to the Forum Jimidybone. I would say a collection of this type is important and should be kept together. There are several firms that specialise in buying collections, Colour Rail being one of them. Inspite of their name they also have B/W collections. Collection of railway photos are important so do try to find a buyer and keep the colection together.
