memories

As a newbie I was viewing some archive posts in search of messages that were of particular interest to me and I came across a dark period when the site was going through a shut-down situation - happily, it never came to fruition.

Suggestions including stream-lining the board catagories and it's along these lines that I'm making the following request.

I'm completely ignorant of the logistics involved, so if it's not feasible, then OK.

What I'm proposing is a catagory dedicated to a subject closest to me in the railway sense, namely, train-spotting observations and memories of the age of steam.

Thanks,

Regards - Curtis.

What about "Derailed" ?

observations

Hello Philip,

The derailed catagory comprises a number of posts which are not related to spotting although some others are.

What I'm proposing is a " dedicated channel " for want of a better phrase.

There are spotting observations scattered all over the board - so why not have them centralised in a seperate catagory - call it " spotters corner " for example, as an aid to simpler navigation for any future messages on the subject.

Regards - curtis.

Hello curtis
Why don't you create a social group called spotters corner or whatever name you choose. It's easy start just go to the top of any page and click on community and then click on social groups and start your spotting only group from there.

I think a dedicated topic slot is far more preferable to another social group.

I know the social groups are available to view but I think they devalue the forum experience for a lot of viewers.

I know your anti social groups Philip but a social group for spotters might interest other members.

Hi Curtis,

I am in agreement with you. Many times spotting related threads posted on "derailed" have dissapeared within two days and very rarely appear on the "New Posts" page.
I am beginning to think the those of us who are mainly interested in trainspotting are thought to be a lesser breed. It is a hobby that I have followed for 60 years and it gives much enjoyment and keeps me out of trouble in my dotage.
