Level Crossing Death

Just 200 yards away from where I live in Enfield Lock is a level crossing. This afternoon two men being chased by police had to stop as the gates were down. As far as I know one was taken into custody and the other jumped the gates in an attempt to escape and was struck by a northbound train. All trains have stopped running and the line is being searched for what remains of the unlucky chap.

mm memories made the mistake of marring a lady from ponders end. they closed the level crossing and put up a footbridge which goes up to heaven. must be 2 stories high to clear the wires when i used to go there people still crossed the tracks.
Now N R are putting fences at the end of platforms it will not be possible

Hi Ken as you say the crossing at Ponders End Station has closed and so has the Railway pub next door.
Here's a photo of the pub after closing and the other photo shows the now vacant pub site.

I can't recall the last time I travelled that line. I Was an RPI along there, hence my name on here, and often got off at Ponders End, or Enfield Town with 'Offenders' as it was the third worst of places for avoiding fares along those routes.

Back to the main topic, My Sympathy to the train driver.
