Its great to hear she's on the mend and wasn't as badly damaged as had been reported.
According to my mate who is often the inspector who rides with the loco, he said the damage was probably done when it went on a trip around Kent to places like Maidstone and Ashford. I'm not familiar with the routes he described, but he said that Tornado really wasn't suited for the railways in that area because there are far too many inclines in both directions. Because the loco has a long boiler, the water in the glass was forever going from full to zero to full to zero all the time while they were at top speed and she was liable to either prime or drop a plug at any moment. On top of that, there was an incident where the loco really bottomed out near Ashford and he reckons that could have been where the main damage to the stays occured. He told me that the loco has been now banned from going over that route.
