Boston Docks Steel Trains
 

I've read in a couple of places that the Colas-operated steel trains from Boston Docks are either ending, or ending for a while. Does anybody know what is happening with these? Has another operator taken them over, or has the traffic just ceased (or been lost to road).
Also, does any other freight run to/from Boston these days?

I Saw two Class 47's at Boston on my way to Skegness last week(Tuesday) I didn't make a note of the numbers(or owners) as I am no longer a spotter(gave that up about 30 years ago).

There was a snippet in this weeks "Railway Herald".

I don't know why so many people seem not to read it.

Absolutely agree with you about Railway Herald, Philip. In fact it was seeing this snippet in there that prompted my question, as this says "What is thought to be one of the final runs for the Colas-operated steel runs from Boston operated on 6th June". Somewhere else I read "...last runs for a while..." but neither gave any detail about what has become of this flow.

I see on passing the sidings at Boston that a load of ballast has been laid on the sidings. This made a loading impossible last week until the link from the dock had been cleared.
Would not have thought re-ballasting would have taken place if a "back to roads" was in the air.
