Class 90's
Anybody who is interested in the class 90 may like to have a look at www.class90electriclocogroup.co.uk
this site has undergone a major upgrade recently, and is weel worth a look for those interested in second generation electric traction |
Do Drivers find them better or worse to drive than other types?
|
I like 90's, especially in night shots and grey livery, cause they look like they mean business. As a freight loco should.

Most of the time a great locomotive on freight were you can travel many miles at 75mph very relaxing. With the speed pre-set the train drives itself, nice clean, warm cabs easily the best. On a greasy or damp rail they can however be lively! The Steam Men would think they'd died and gone to heaven, also Diesels seem ponderous in comparison. Shows British Engineering could build a very good locomotive before the mania for cheap and foreign became the vogue!

Hi all, i like the 90's i sat in the cab of one at the Crewe Electric openday a few years ago an they are a very compfy warm cab with good control layout a bit like there Deisel counterparts the class 60, another solid sound design that has stood the test of time until the influx of CHEEP Forign imports like the class 66's that rattle an shake like mad whilst pulling away from a standing start unlike the Class 60's or the impressive Class 90's i have been behind a 90 on several time's on the West Coast an was very impressed by how quick they are. Especially over Shap, but i recon they always look better at the head of a freight train.
