Irish Mk 3 coaches
 

Don't you think it is a shame that these coaches are being scrapped? They are better than our ones. Uk coaches don't have sliding doors. With the shortage of coaches in the UK there is a big opportunity to buy Irish Mk 3 coaches. All they need are replacement bogies. These could come from redundant mk 3 sleeper stock. What are your oppinions.

PS. Does anyone know what happened to the mk 3 coaches that went too Denmark and Switzerland?

I dont think there is a shortage of stock - its more the will of train operators to commit to more or longer trains given that they have to make every penny count. If they put on more carriages there would be running costs and then increased passenger numbers would have to fund that and more continuously for the life of the equipment. Who'd be a railway finance director? (Bet he travels everywhere by chauffered limo or helicopter as well)
