Village angry over road closure (BBC News)
 
People in a Leicestershire village say they are angry their main road will be closed for six months while work is carried out on a railway bridge.

That's just "Half a mile on the bypass", total distance for the detour will be over two miles. Each way. Instead of six hundred yards. They have a point.

Well, if we want freight off the road and onto rail it just has to be done !

But, can't say I would be overjoyed if it were my village.;)
