Altrincham disgust.
I have just been reading through the mid cheshire rail users chairmans blog and have discovered that they want to knowck down Altrincham footbridge.
http://www.mcrua.org.uk/chairmansblo...m-interchange/ As you can see I have displayed my disgust in the matter on the site. |
I have created a petition on the number 10 website in order to try and save the bridge.
It has been sent for approval. |
Are you serious? At least 30,000 people have just died in Haiti, the UK infrastructure has taken a dent from recent bad weather and you are having a rant about a footbridge. The current occupant of No 10 has much more to worry about (not least the fact that he won't be there after the next election I hope). You could try investigating as to whether the footbridge might be useful on a heritage line if it does have to be replaced. Have you done that?

There is no heritage railway that needs a four platform bridge.
How dare you say such a thing. I know that 30 000 people have died and things are being done about it. There is nothing illegal intrying to save it. By your username I can assume that you are involved with the GWSR. I could ask how can the railway make a fuss about extending when people are dying in Afganistan. It is part of the towns history and I amongst others do not wish to see it gone. Simple as. |
Hi SFE !
Surely you would be better off trying to mount a local campaign using your local press rather than using the no 10 web site. Or, find out if there is any real support in the immediate area for what you think is a good idea. Seems you NEED a cause to fight for ? |
I have written a letter to the Altrincham messenger.
I have also written to English heritage. The bridge is unique in design and is the character of the station. |
Gents
Lets all clam down a bit,First and last warning  Ian |
Quote:
1. I have dared to say it, "simple as". 2. I did not say that it was illegal trying to save a footbridge. 3. I am involved with the GWSR (amongst other railways) and have been since 1977 when it was the GWR Society. 4. Having served in Helmand myself in 2007-8 and having lost colleagues in that conflict I think I can live with my interests and my military career thank you. If you want to save the footbridge, crack on. |
So it seems we carn't act like grow ups then topic now locked
