After they have been shot at for months on end the last thing they need is for some jobsworth being stupid.
Soldiers who defend this land should be given what they deserve- a warm welcome and not an explanation of technicalities from some snotty little bundle of blasphemy.

I was going to say much the same but I wasn't going to be quite so polite.

The guy that wanted them off should be made to apologise and should also lose his job as a ticket inspector .What an absolute cretin

The guard/conductor obviously suffers from a common ailment these days - a total lack of bloody common sense, discretion, and tactfulness.

It's not too often I find myself agreeing with SFE, but on this item, yes, we're singing from the same hymn-sheet. Totally agree SFE!

Words fail me on this one.

Sorry, but SACK the Inspector and done with. I did almost 13 years with the T/A, as well as the railway and only have 100% respect for our Military. An apology costs NOTHING, compared to what our Military are going through and THIS Inspector should be sent out there for a few weeks, seeing as he/she TRIED to be so brave while working, then see JUST how brave he/she is?

Sorry, but that is MY opinion of the person involved, even if not the rest of the members on here and rant over.

Interesting to note that a passenger stepped in and paid. Rail warrants can be a pain to use (I've used a few) as its difficult to get them changed when they are pre-issued but its not impossible and trooping flights can get diverted in bad weather, its not unknown! I won't comment further as I'm still serving but not for much longer and, in case anybody is wondering, yes I have been to Helmand and I was lucky as I didn't have to go out "on the ground."

They should take the inspector involved out of his job and send him out with the poor soldiers and put him to fight for this country.
You praise these blokes you dont throw them off trains.
The bloke is a total arsehole.

ccmmick.
