Hello bikerpeavey and welcome to the Railway Forum. I'm not a lot of help either as I am in Bristol.

You might try Acton Bridge (between Crewe and Warrington), there's a few freights pass there during an afternoon, and not too far from you.

Hi bikerpeavy,

If you have some other form of transport rather than the public variety, get yourself off over the hill to the Buxton area, lots of locations around there,Tunstead Peak Forest,Great Rocks, and the Hope Valley line.

Cheers John

Hi there.
I live in cheshire and I have found that there are many good places to watch the trains.

Stockport sees quite a few and so does the yard at levenshulme in Manchester.
Derby has quite a good number of freights passing through.

One of the best sites is Chester station.
I live on the CLC mid cheshire route between stockport and Chester and see all sorts of trains passing.
Hope this helps you.

Staions at Chesterfield, Warrington Bank Quay, Stockport, Acton Bridge, Derby. By road one of the best places is around the Tunstead, Peak Forest area. Look on the trainspots website for further info.
