Just droppin' a line to say hello from North Vancouver in Canada.

Hi there, and welcome to Railway Forum. :)

Welcome to the site Nldunne, We need more members from countries out side of GB. Give us a little run down about your self like are you steam, electric or diesel? Do you or have you worked on the railways? Are you in to model railways? Most of all just enjoy the site.

I lean a bit to the older machines be it diesel, or steam, cars and transport vehicles -- not just railway cars either.

We have no long distance electric except a short stretch of track with two early 1900 (1905 and 1912) interurban (long distance street cars) cars on it. They run from May to Thanksgiving on the weekends and stat holidays. Our Skytrain lines are electric - similar to a tube line.

Myself, I like all forms of art subjects - not just trains. I have a few websites on here dealing with the reproductions of Old Masters painters where I learn how to compose an image for the cam. I enjoy working with my third principle
grid to set up my images as well (this was based on principles from books on paintings).

I like the video (for sound and motion) as well as still cam for still subjects.

I did work on the C P Railway in Vancouver in my summers in high school doing coach cleanouts and that is about it for working on the rails. In an apartment, I have no room for a model system.

I guess that is about it for me. I hope this helps a bit.

Here is my avitar image from 1989. #2860 is southbound with the daily May to September tourisit train to Squamish and return to North Van.

She is due out of the shops next weekend after a huge major workover.

Is this the overhaul that started in 2000?
On our one and only visit to Vancouver in 2000 we booked a trip to Squamish and the West Coast Railway Heritage Park by coach with a return rail trip behind Royal Hudson no.2860. The tour company said nothing until we reached Squamish where they then admitted that no.2860 was out of service and we would be diesel-hauled back to Vancouver North. There were a lot of unhappy people on that train:mad:

That would be about the time for the start of it.

I would hate to pay all that money for the trip and not be told the loco was in the loco hospital for major work.

It sounds to me the tour company was not doing their homework and checking all the details before they sent out the tickets.
