To all Enthusiasts out there...

Hello I'm sure you may have seen some of my other posts on this before. I and a few fellow enthusiasts have set up a preservation group called Random Loco Preservation Group. We have plans to acquire a class 20 or 56 and restore it to running order at a location yet to be decided. We are welcoming fellow enthusiasts to come join us in acquiring and restoring one of these fine locomotives. We'll welcome you even if you just want to be a part of it. If you are interested in joining us please reply at the bottom.

Well I was interested enough to look at the web site, but you have nothing on display.

How on earth do you expect to attract help and support ?

Correct me if I am wrong but the fact it is called the "random" loco preservation group seems to suggest a lack of general direction? You can't even decide what loco you wish to preserve?

Yes,there is a bit of difference between a 20 and a 56.:D

My priority, if I was to offer practical help on a regular basis, would be a location within easy traveling distance. But as the location of the unknown loco is also unknown I have to admit defeat on this one.

Seems I must direct my energies to building more valve amplifiers and tinkering with old scramblers.;)

Good idea in principle but I think you will find most preserved locos have been purchased because the buyer has a 'special relationship' with the loco or the loco has a significant history to where it will be based. There are plenty of locos already purchased that are crying out for resoration some of them may be based at heritage sites close to your home. For me its the CVR.Thats why i became a volunteer there.I cant see the point of saving another random loco.Im sorry if you dont agree with me but its just my opinion.

Not a scheme I'd donate too. sounds a bit iffy.
