Wolverhampton
I have just been to Wolverhampton for the first time. I seem to remember that there were two stations in former times. High Level and Low Level. Again I seem to remember that GWR used to serve the town. Can anyone confirm these memories ? Second can anyone tell me which station stood where ? I have an idea that "Low Level" has become the present modern station, and "High Level" was mostly demolished in favour of the present bus station, but that part of the building has been preserved. Am I right ?

I think there was and article in Steam Railway a few months back. Low Level was the GWR station. It has been closed for many years, but is now being refurbished into a shopping centre, or something. (housing??)
So High Level must be the one still operating? Dont we have a member of this forum who runs the Railways of Worcestershire web site. Maybe that has something |
The current Wolverhampton station is the old High Level. Low Level is currently being redeveloped for shops housing and leisure retaining part of the old station.

Thanks for the details. I am now wiser !
