Dorset freight

Does anybody know if the Hamworthy branch still has any freight traffic? And is there any sand or M.o.D. traffic at Wool these days?

Freight does indeed still use the Hamworthy Branch. The only working I know of that uses it is a loaded aggregate train from Whatley Quarry and is usually hauled by a class 59.

Sand traffic still goes to Wool as well, which usually comes from Neasden hauled by a Freightliner class 66.

When on a trip down to Brockenhurst/Lymington back in April, I saw both Whatley - Hamworthy (passed Brockenhurst around 13:20) and Wool - Neasden (passes Brockenhurst around 16:00) workings.

Hope this Helps :)
