Inappropriate repairs made to old rail bridge
Interesting story from earlier in the week in the Daily mail about some repairs made to an old railway bridge by the BRB that have upset the locals and the local authority. It does look a bit daft, and as the letters below suggest most of the original materials would have been on site anyway so the cost argument doesn't seem to add up. There would no doubt be a fuss if a Heritage railway had done this...........

Pesmo,
The actions of BRB are inexcusable. If the damage was as a result of a car accident then the cars insurers would pay up for reinstatement. BRB would have been within their rights to insist insurers replaced like for like. Sounds like complete incompetence. In these situations I always like to try to find out who is responsible ie which individual, decided brick was OK. People should be accountable but sadly many hide behind bureaucracy. Mike |
