Trains of interest
A couple of weeks ago by chance while waiting at a level crossing in Northumberland, a steam train went by, absoutely spectacular, made my day, I think it was called the "Cathedral ????"
Is there a time table for such trains, i.e. if I knew that one was going to go past I would make a special journey to see it. I can't find anything on the internet and wondered if any of the members of this forum could point me in the right direction? Another type of train I would be very interested in seeing is the "Deltic" I don't know if any of these are still running, but would love to see one again. As a child I lived very close to the railway and used to go up to the local station, I was always quite taken with the Deltics, very impressive distinctive sound when they put the power on to leave the station. |
Steam trains - http://www.uksteam.info/index.shtml
click on the "2009 tours" or "This week" on the RHS - then on the [Times] for a timetable if available. Diesal tours - Try - http://railwayherald.co.uk/ Click on tours (also gives steam tours aswell but no times) John |
That would properably have been 'The Cathedral Express' with 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' from London Liverpool St to Norwich on the 23rd April.
