Manchester Picadilly

Im thinking of popping down to Picadilly soon and was wondering, does anyone know what the best platform is to take photographs. I've never been before, so would be good to get a few tips.
Thanks :)

Excellent, thanks David. I'll pop down early next week hopefully.

Make sure you have a ticket on your person, as it can occasionally be difficult to get on / off the end of the platforms due to barriers.

13/14 is okay for spotting as you get a good view of passing services, but as someone said I think 6 is longer than most of the other platforms right in the middle.

Cheers for that, I'll be catching the train into the station, so a ticket is no problem. And think i've seen spotters on 13/14 as im sure thats the platform you use for the Airport.

13 and 14 are the through platforms at Piccadilly, not all the Airport services go from there (TPE services to/from Leeds, Sheffield, etc, to the Airport go into 1-12 normally). At the south end of 13/14 you should get a good view of the trains going in and out of the station, but Platform 6 is also popular for that reason.

Just wish I could go to Piccadilly pre-1970 and see the Woodhead electrics. The class 506 dc EMUs ran up until 1984 when the Hadfield/Glossop branch was converted to ac.
