Skew wound powered steam loco's
I have several loco's and am still looking for new models, however I only want locos that have the skew wound motors,
I have, over the past year or so found Hornby to be the best (my opinion) but I do not know how to tell if the newer model has this motor fitted. Does anyone know how to tell if a loco has a skew wound motor without stripping it to find out. I am modelling in OO gauge |
As skew-wound motors are generally much better than straight-wound motors the manufacturers usually make a point of mentioning the fact that one is fitted in their advertising blurb for each model.
If a skew-wound motor is not mentioned then I would say there was a pretty good chance that the model didn't have one. Coreless motors are also pretty good but I don't think that many British models use them. |
If you like the Hornby range I suggest you get the 2009 Hornby catalogue it tells you what motor is in which locomotive.
