A great day for the West Highland. It is sad that some of the the locals are still opposed to it. I do hope that the raiklway will reduce the amount of traffic in Bethgelert and on the roads in the surrounding area.

Can't wait, I am going on it in Ausgust along with several other of the Welsh narrow gauge lines. Its a shame it still won't quite reach Porthmadog by then, but I shouldn't be complaining as it will be a FOUR HOUR round trip as it is  :D

I wonder if those 'Locals' are actually from that area or have moved from elsewhere? I detect a possible similarity between them and others who move into the country near a farm and then complain about the cows or chickens early in the morning. Sadly these 'newbies' often get their own way. I wonder if these 'HIP' things mention cows, chickens or for that matter possible railways being over the other side of the fence at the bottom of the garden?
I do not think we will get there this year as plans go no further west than Oswestry and then only for a couple of days. But who knows about next year. John (G) |
