This is the problem facing heritage railways which are privately financed and volunteer run. Such a job as replacing a bridge is so daunting. Hopefully the public will avail and with the expected increase in 'home' holidays this year there should be a healthy increase in turn-over to push this along.

The money will be found because the North York Moors is too important to its local economy to let it go. It is also too important as one of the Flagship Heritage Railways.

There is little doubt that everyone will rally round as they did for the Severn Valley.

The NYMR is dealing with this ahead of the problem as one would expect from any well run buisiness.

Best wishes,

Isn't it the case with this particular bridge that the cost of the materials won't be that high but that the majority of the expense will be on installing it in a very tricky place with poor access ?

Yes I think that is the case. Part of the cost may be covered by volunteer labour.

Best wishes,
