Kirkby Stephen West

Had a look around the old station and yard today to view the locos on site.

Have to say this is a impressive collection but have also to question what future these loco have at Kirkby Stephen as they are dumped in the open with no cover and very little infrasture.

I don't know if you spoke to anyone whilst there, but the last time I was there and talking to some of the members I was told of their eventual plans and how they had the rights to quite a lot of the track bed and were negotiating for some more. Also the 37,s were runnable although I believe they had had trouble with batteries. The 20 is also mechanicaly runable but most locos now need the cosmetic treatment.

I heard that one or two of the locos could move to the Warcop branch when operational which would make some sense.

Kirkby East not West as i put has a long way to go by the looks of things and plenty of money to be spent before any train services start to run.

Indeed so, but I recall seeing a photo of 37674 being started not that long ago so she's definately working to some degree!

Looking forward to the day when passenger services start up there, I missed out on getting 37674 when a mate of mine did a gala with it on. To this day I still even need it for sight and he occasionally reminds me of the fact now and again!

I think there is a tractor already at Warcop not sure which one or if its a runner or not.
