Railway Forum - Introduction

Hello from Spilsby on the Lincolnshire Wolds. I have just rekindled my interest in the railways after a 25 year sabbatical!!!! Wow, so much has changed and there is loads to catch up on. My interest dwindled back in the mid 80's after joining HM Forces, dont know why...it just did. But I knew I would return one day. I suppose the catalyst for my return is the fact that our 3 year old son is showing some interest in trains. Before joining up I lived in Carlisle and my favourite locos were the 56 and 58's, probably because I never saw any of them in Carlisle!!!! I was a member of the Border Railway Society back then and was a regular in the clubroom on Carlisle Station. One club night, despite being at the station I managed to miss 56065 passing through hauling a failed electric. I saw the back end of the train through one of the arches but did not see either loco. You can probably imagine my horror when the other members asked me if I had seen the 56. I have just been up to Carlisle over xmas to see all my relatives. I managed to get out on the S & C to see/photo 56312 hauling a railtour on 29/12/08, followed by a visit to the station, so at last after all these years I have seen a 56 in my home town.
