It will be interesting to see what this investigation discovers. If we are to believe what the local residents are saying, Network Rail have a lot of explaining to do.

I know of one crossing where from the lights/claxon being activated, the train passes by less than 1 minute later.

Whatever happened to the sign that read Stop, Look Listen at crossings and footpaths. Or is it that today people cannot read or do not bother to read the warning signs and so need flashing lights. bells and sirens to warn them of approaching danger.
Of course it could be that people are in too much of a hurry to Stop, Look,Listen

No matter what the danger you always get nutters trying to beat the train. The same drivers also spend a lot of their time cutting up other cars and jumping traffic lights.

I think that's quite normal. The Rail Safety and Standards Board mentions times as short as 27 secs.

Its a crazy world we live in where people think that any warning sign or anything that says stop does'nt mean them.
When I was at work I had apprentices who firmly believed that you did'nt have to stop at red traffic lights if you could see the road was clear.
Brainless!
Paul.
