I don't suppose for one minute the driver will be blamed.
They should be charged at Network costings the same as T.O.C's for all delays caused and the damage as well.
Why is it nessasarily the drivers fault?
It could have been another motorist, or a manufactoring / repair fault with the car, a blown out tire, or any number of things out of anyone's control. To have the foresight to run towards a Signal Box or lineside telephone after just being in a car crash and the shock etc. that comes with it is almost commendable if you ask me, though I'd have rung 999 while I was at it. |
Yes I thought that too. One sentence implys he was responsibly running towards the signal box to ensure the trains were stopped. The next sentence says he was running away. I suppose the local news reporter probabbly coulndnt be bothered to find out the real story, and scribbled any old rubbish to cover himself.

might have had a long run to a signal box in some locations....:D
Wool Signal box is right next to the crossing. I don't know if it is manned all the time though.
