Enfield Town Loco and Kings Cross
Hello guys, I just read Alan Pike's story about his railway experiences and thought I would say hello to you all by registering on here.
I was at Enfiled Town from 1957 to 1963 and transfered to KX because of electrification. I will wait for response before I go on? Alan are you still around mate?:) I am Dave Taylor and my first driver at Enfield was Jimmy Hill |
Hi Dave, nice to have you aboard.
Alan visits the site most days, so you'll be able to get in touch with him easily enough. If I were you, I'd change your username from that of your e-mail address. It's not a good idea to advertise your e-mail address so openly. Not that anyone on the board would misuse it, but we do get the occasional troll. |
Hello Dave and welcome to the forum from a G6.

Hi Dave welcome to the forum, they were good old days back 50 years ago. Things change and we all move on I still live in Enfield Lock right next to the station. Enfield Lock was a station we passed through on the Hertford East runs usually on a Stratford based L1.
Here' a photo of a place you knew well. |

Hi Dave, Welcome to the forum from 2E0BLL, ex Saltley Fireman. I wonder if there were any "initiation" ceremonies at Enfield or Topshed? At Saltley it consisted of a good soaking from a boiler washout hose! Took them a while to catch me out, by using a decoy holding a hose. I tried to escape by climbing onto the footplate of the nearest loco in three shed, but when I got off the other side there was someone else waiting for me!
Didn`t take long to dry out though, just climb on the nearest prepared engine, and dry off in front of the fire. I don`t think the H&S executive would be too impressed by what went on these days! Regards Mike. |
