Housing demand boosts rail hope (BBC News)
 
The demand for more housing in Devon could help reopen an old railway line which closed 40 years ago.

This makes a lot of sense and £10 million is peanuts for the benifits it would give.

Its a pity that the government don't see thing the same way. For the sake of about 3 miles of track and a station at Portishead and a platform at Pill and they could take a lot of cars out of Bristol. They turned it down, I'm not sure of the figures but there must be well over 2 thousand houses in Portishead and another 6 to 8 hundred in Pill.
