A train driver is injured and services are disrupted when a lorry hits a footbridge in Leicestershire.

The footbridge was lattice style on the site of the original Borrow Upon Soar station fast lines only. The preasant station is about half a mile further south and is on the goods(slow) lines only.
The train crash today was on the fast lines. |
Perhaps I shouldn't jump to any conclusions but it looks like Network Rail have got a lot of explaining to do:-(

If you go to google maps & the get a satalite view you can see the bridge north of the presant station. Barrow station is about 2 miles south of Loughborough station. I don't know who owned the truck but it is possible it has nothing to do with Network Rail. |

A Network Rail spokeswoman also said that they had a representative on site at the time of the accident and that they had tried to warn the train driver by waving a handlamp. |
