Railway route study gets go-ahead (BBC News)
Network Rail will oversee a study into the possible reopening of a disused railway line in East Sussex.

Let's hope Network Rail sees sense and opens this line before Tescos build a supermarket on it.
|
Not Tesco but yet another unwanted guided bus scheme as has happened on the Cambridge to St Ives line (much of which still has or had rails down until recently) and where almost all the track bed can be walked on to rejoin the ECML at Huntingdon.

Uckfield to Sheffield Park is what is needed.
Then the Bluebell can charge £1000s in tolls to operating companies for their London - Lewis services. But now the Pendolinos would be shunted into the loop to give priority to the steam trains .:D |
Well the route from Victoria to Uckfield is already served by the Southern Railway, so if the line is extended to Lewes it would make sense to continue using the existing stock where it would join up with the Southern Mainline again .

Bluebell was the old Lewis to East Grinstead line |
Actually (hijacking the thread as usual) that does make me wonder how locos get from the Bluebell onto the mainline when there's a railtour. Is there a rail link, or do they have to go on a road transporter ?
(sorry ;)) |
Bluebell has no mainline connection (yet)
I think locos are loaded/unloaded in Sheffield Park yard, next to the Engine shed. |
