It just goes to show how international railway fans are. The number of countries that we have in members is growing all the time. The following countries have been registered on our site as places people live in or come from, all be it with tong in cheek at times. Like those who said they live in Antarctica or used the UN flag. Then there are those who live in the Middle Draw, in The Pub, in a House, Somewhere etc

Our hobby must be one of the best, like fishing it gets you out and about, seeing different places and people, great buildings, structures, bridges and engineering of the finest. And we share it with fellow enthusiasts from all over the World. All the best.

I think it is the best. The greatest railway building has got to be London St Pancras International station.

I have long been convinced that we share the best hobby.
It is so diverse. Some like steam, some like modern image, some like the buildings and infrastructure. The list is endless.
This from a hobby that is considered in some circles to be a "Nerdy" thing to do. Personally I think anyone who thinks that is barmy.

I'm an old git like Syd, the new electric trains my be fast and look very sleek but I'm not really interested in them. I'm old and like old railways best.

There must be lots of us Old Gits around,
But we do still have a Main Line almost as it was laid down 80 years ago, still uses it's original motive power (plus some sleek modern stuff) and nearly always steam hauled. Maybe we stand taller than the locos but they run at the same speeds as any other railway using a light ralway order.I could go on.......... but better stop before we get the car out and vist straight away if only to simply watch the Santa Specials. Definitely a visit next year as we have missed out on a pilgramage this one.

One day I'll see the Bug in steam.

Without a shadow of a doubt this is the best hobby in the world. One of the benefits that hasn't been mentioned is the effect on peoples knowledge of geography. A few years ago I'd have had no idea where Stockton was, or where abouts the river Severn ran, but through my interest in railways I've found things like that out. Plus, you never know when you're going to get a railway related question in a pub quiz!
