Rail group 'bans' help for kids (BBC News)
 

Staff at a Devon heritage railway can no longer help children off trains, because of the risk of being accused of inappropriate behaviour.

You're quite right there. The world's gone mad. I have several hobbies where we would have welcomed the influx of 'new blood' to keep the sport going, but we are now turning away children because we don't have 'Child/Adult Interface Coordinators' or whatever the correct term is. If it wasn't so sad it would be funny :mad:

It`s the same thing time and time again, the majority have to suffer because of the few. Like John says it`s a sad old world.

I am a grandad of 60 years of age. I absolutely adore children. I now have to make a concerted effort not to make a fuss of other peoples children.
What a really sad world we live in, and it is all because of a few nutters.

My 16 year old daughter has been an enthusiastic member of the Girl Guides for the last 5 years. At 16, she has become what the Girl Guides call a 'Young Leader' and she has been asked to help out with the local Brownie group. To do so she has had to forward all sorts of details so that a CRB check can be carried out. I can understand why, in this day and age, such a check has to be done, but it don't half make me mad. :mad: She's 16 and wouldn't hurt a fly for God's sake. What a sad world we've made for ourselves. :(

It is all very sad. Now I always get Parents to help their children on and off trains.

HIT are now trying to make sure that all working at Thomas Events are CRB checked. This will put an incredable financial strain on the railways at £35 per person.
