Slow locos can delay trains as well.

I've only ever seen a slow worm once, and that was on Brading Down on the Isle of Wight back in 1969. My brother, five at the time, screamed his head off, believing it to be a snake. The wimp. :D

Unbeliveable. But I suppose as they are a protected species you cant just kill thier habitat when you want to open a railway station. There was up roar when the Newbry by-pass went through an area of scientiffic special interest.

I think I read somewhere recently that they have done a 5-years after ecological survey and they found that the carefully protected Desmoulin Snails had turned up their noses (feelers??) at their £1m recreated spcial habitat and happily slithered off to a bit of natural river nearby, where they werent supposed to be able to live, and were doing very nicely thank you.
